On Monday July 30, we had a free day at Taronga Zoo. The zoo was on an island, and we had to take a ferry to get there. It was fun to spend the day there, seeing Australian animals, and animals from different parts of the world.
On Thursday, August 2, we left Sydney at about 10 am. We arrived in Los Angeles at about 7 am on the same day! The International Date Line again! We flew from LA to Dallas/Fort Worth, and took a bus to the Teen Mania campus. We arrived there just in time for supper. On Saturday, we had a few debriefing sessions and that night we were challenged to go home and continue our ministry there. Buses started taking kids to the airport at around 11:30 pm, and continued until 10 am the next morning. So we stayed up most of the night saying goodbye to the friends we had made.
Grandma and Grandpa Berns came at around 7 am on Saturday morning, and we started our journey home. It was so good to see familiar faces again! We arrived home Saturday night at around 9:30. Needless to say, our families were glad to see us and we were both very excited to be home.
Steph - "I made some great friendships that will last for a life time. The sad thing is that we live all over the US and Canada. But we talk online all the time. We really grew close to God and each other as we were stretched and pushed. But all the time spent was worth the growth we received. I wouldn't trade this summer for anything.
I want to say thank you to everyone that helped get Rachel and I on the field. With your prayer and financial support we were able to touch many lives and plant seeds in the hearts of the people of New Zealand and Australia. Thanks again and May God bless you!"
